The Primitivo grape variety traditionally grows in Puglia (the “heel” of Italy), where it was introduced in the 18th century. The grape found its way to the United States in the mid-19th century, and became known by variations of the name “Zinfandel”. The grapes typically produce a robust red wine.
Messer Del Fauno Primitivo is deep, ruby red in colour and has delicous aromas of ripe dark berries. These ripe dark berries flavours continue through to the palate leading to a little smoke and oak on the finish. Pair this red wine with spicy grilled meat dishes, spicy tomato sauces and spicy soups.
The Castellani family is originally from Florence and has played a role in city government since the time of Dante. Like every patrician family, the Castellanis have always owned land and produced wine. In 1903, Alfredo Castellani was officially registered with the Pisa Chamber of Commerce to export his wine. Now in the fifth generation, the Castellani company owns wineries with a total of more than 250 hectares of cultivation area in the Chianti areas, in the area of the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and the Maremma, the prestigious coastal region of Tuscany. In addition, the winery controls 1000 hectares of vineyards in central and southern Italy. The company headquarters in Santa Lucia with a total storage capacity of 133,000 hectoliters meets all modern quality control requirements. The temperature and humidity controlled maturation cellar, with a capacity of 5000 hectoliters in barriques and large wooden barrels, ensures that large quantities of wine can be produced with the highest quality standard. In addition, a winery on every winery enables the grapes to be pressed, vinified and refined immediately.
