The Hearach Single Malt Whisky
Each batch of The Hearach reflects its unique journey, with natural variation influenced by the careful selection of casks and differing 'marrying' periods.
The Hearach is the first historic single malt whisky from the Isle of Harris distillery, crafted with pride by the hands of islanders in the Outer Hebrides. Like the iconic Harris Tweed, this whisky is a true product of our people and our place, woven together to create an elegant spirit with depth and character.
Matured in a combination of ex-bourbon casks, Oloroso and Fino butts, The Hearach embodies the spirit of Harris, connecting tradition, craft, and the island’s natural beauty.
Tasting Notes
On the nose, there’s a nostalgic sweetness, evoking memories of pear drops, caramel, and a tin of Granny’s sweets. Hints of the sea emerge, recalling misty waves at Luskentyre and floral notes from the Horgabost machair.
On the palate, gentle spice and woodiness suggest Dad’s cigars and spiced cinnamon, complemented by a light peatiness reminiscent of autumn walks through Scalpay. A splash of water enhances smoky tones, evoking camping trips in Northton, with added sweetness like honeycomb and vanilla ice cream.
